Now live: a coach that actually coaches you

Cadent has always been built on sound scientific principles. Behind every session, a periodisation model is deciding what to train, how hard to push, and when to ease off. Most of that has worked quietly in the background.

This release brings it forward. Cadent now gives you clear context and explanation before, during and after a session. Every message is grounded in your own training data: your block, your cycle, your recent sessions, your strain.

Here's how it works.

Your progression, managed.

There's a new coaching message on your Home screen. Short, personal, and different every time, because it changes with where you actually are in your training. It know’s if your strain is high or if you’ve been away a while. Like a personal trainer, but with insider knowledge.

Finished a workout? It tells you what that achieved and what the next one is for. Starting a new cycle? It orients you without over-explaining. Been away a couple of weeks? It welcomes you back and offers a lighter way in, instead of ignorantly pushing a generic workout on you.

That's the difference between a coach and a notification. A coach makes it more personal.

Strain you can see, with targets that mean something

Tap Predicted Strain before a workout and you'll now see it broken down by body part rather than as a single number. A clearer read on what this session actually costs you.

On the Strain screen, each body part now has a real weekly target range, drawn from the training science instead of a round number we made up. Maintenance at one end, progression at the other. Boost a body part and the range moves with it, so the target always reflects how you've chosen to train. Coach sees this data, and helps contextualise it for you and surface the most important points, just like a personal trainer would if they could see inside your muscles.

Live coaching

Good coaching isn't only the plan. It's the right word at the right moment. Cadent now surfaces key guidance as you progress through a workout session.

Depending on what you're about to do, it might:

  • Flag that a muscle you're about to hit is still carrying strain from earlier in the week.

  • Show your personal best for the lift in front of you, and what today's first set is aiming at.

  • Tell you what the exercise is really training, and how your week is tracking against your strain target for that body part.

  • Let you know if you've drifted behind your usual pace.

  • Remind you how hard to push in this block, and how many reps to leave in reserve.

You’ll learn more with one workout session using Cadent than most gym goers ever know.

Try the full coaching experience, free

The biggest change isn't a feature. It's who gets to feel all of this.

Your first training block now includes the complete coaching experience: the coach, the in-workout tips, the briefing, the strain detail. All of it. No trial gimmick, no card required. You get a real taste of how Cadent coaches, for a full block.

After that, Pro is about continuity. Coaching that keeps adapting cycle after cycle, the long-term trends, the parts that only get sharper the longer Cadent knows you.

A few smaller things that make sessions smoother: skip a warmup or an exercise in a single tap, clearer set-by-set progress as you train, and preferences like Auto Advance and Keep Screen Awake that now follow you across devices.
